The Air Force contracted with OMNITEC to build a similar site to the Navy’s news portal, with added features including streaming video and archiving services. The Air Force now uses the OMNITEC-developed site as their main website. AFNEWS has more than 480 Air Force and Army military and civilian members assigned to 28 locations worldwide. They communicate news, information, and entertainment through print and electronic media to keep the entire force, families, and American public informed at all times. They do this through the OMNITEC-developed CMS at www.af.mil.

America Supports You is another critically important website managed by OMNITEC. Also known as “ASY”, this is a nationwide program launched by the Department of Defense to recognize citizens' support for our military and communicate that support to members of our Armed Forces at home and abroad. More than 1.3 million people visited the site from November 2004 to November 2005, viewing almost 5 million pages. Daily visits to the site now average between 3,000 to 3,500, spiking when the America Supports You program is highlighted during special events. Visitors to the site have sent over 150,000 messages to the troops expressing thanks and concern, offering pats on the back, and sending their prayers.

Central Contractor Registration (CCR) is the primary vendor database for the U.S. Federal Government. CCR collects, validates, stores, and disseminates data in support of agency acquisition missions. Both current and potential federal government vendors are required to register in CCR in order to be awarded contracts by the federal government. Vendors are required to complete a one-time registration to provide basic information relevant to procurement and financial transactions. Vendors must update or renew their registration at least once per year to maintain an active status. CCR validates the vendor information and electronically shares the secure and encrypted data with the federal agencies finance offices to facilitate paperless payments through electronic funds transfer (EFT). Additionally, CCR shares the data with federal government procurement and electronic business systems.

www.defendamerica.mil
DefendAmerica was launched by the Defense Department just weeks after the September 11 terrorist attacks to keep the public informed about U.S. and coalition efforts to combat global terrorism. The site is managed, maintained, and regularly upgraded by OMNITEC. DefendAmerica offers the latest news, photographs, transcripts, and other key information about the U.S.-led war on terrorism. It also offers daily news reports and photographs by U.S. military photo journalists on the frontlines, as well as in supporting units. This type of communication is not readily available in the mainstream media. DefendAmerica also maintains information on roles the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Guard, and Reserve play in the war on terror. And it outlines the contributions made by coalition partners who have joined the U.S. in these efforts. DefendAmerica highlights a critical but often overlooked partner in the terror war—the American public who supports the troops.

www.navy.mil
This is the U.S. Navy’s flagship website. OMNITEC developed this web-based, database system for the U.S. Navy to serve as a news portal for all internal and external news. Navy Public Affairs Offices use this system around the world to submit news stories text, photographs, video, and audio. The CMS accepts these submissions and allows for several levels of review and approval before the content is made available to the public through the same website.

The mission of the Navy NewsStand is to serve as the U.S. Navy’s official internal news website. It allows Navy personnel, their families, DoD personnel, and the general public to view current news and information authorized by the Navy Chief of Information. In addition, the Navy NewsStand allows journalists from various commands to post news stories and access a large database of Navy photographs which can be attached to stories. OMNITEC, in coordination with the U.S. Navy, developed this information-based news website to allow immediate on-line story submission and approval, providing the Navy with the quickest means to deliver the most up-to-date and current news to the Fleet, with over 5 million unique users visiting the site per month.

www.pentagonchannel.mil
