Software and Database Support

As software engineers, OMNITEC writes the code that makes your software products run. As database administrators (DBA), we develop, implement, update, test, and repair your server database. Web/Internet Solutions

Our Web and Internet solutions are customized, purpose-built systems to satisfy your data and information requirements. The bulk of our work has been in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) and other agency-specific initiatives to standardize Web portal efforts. These services include custom database and application development, local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) engineering and management, system administration, and application support for the U.S. Navy, Air Force, and other DoD organizations.

We help maintain and support the flagship Web sites for the Navy (http://www.navy.mil) and Air Force (http://www.af.mil). Both military branches use Content Management Systems we designed and developed to allow personnel to submit news stories, images, video, audio and other text from around the world. The systems accept these submissions and allow for several levels of review and approval before content is made available to the public through their Web sites. Our applications provide the quickest means to deliver the most up-to-date and current news to agency members and the general public, with millions of unique users visiting each site per month.

OMNITEC also provides similar Content Management System applications and Web site support for the official Web site of the DoD (http://www.defenselink.mil), the official DoD Web site for news about the War on Terrorism (http://www.defendamerica.mil), and The Pentagon Channel (http://www.pentagonchannel.mil), which broadcasts military news and information for the 2.6 million members of the U.S. Armed Forces through its programming.

America Supports You (http://www.americasupportsyou.mil) is another critically important Web site OMNITEC manages. Also known as “ASY,” this is a nationwide program launched by the DoD to recognize citizens' support for our military men and women and communicate that support to members of our Armed Forces at home and abroad.

Network Engineering

Network engineering involves building and maintaining your back-end technology. From concept to installation, OMNITEC provides a host of integrated services, ranging from the delivery of a turnkey network to performing individual tasks such as the design, integration, installation or operation of networks, desktop systems, and servers.

We support 16 remote sites located around the world that connect to the Naval Media Center LAN, providing hardware and software technical support to resolve network operating problems. They also enable network system integration of off-site servers that gain access to the Naval Media Center Network.

Infrastructure/Server Management

Delivering 24/7 uptime is no longer a luxury but a necessity. We provide hardware system support by maintaining all system equipment currently in place or newly acquired to support a particular requirement. We prepare technology assessments on existing equipment and make recommendations for commercial off-the-shelf servers, software, and necessary installation hardware. We also design and prepare CAD (computer-aided drawing) packages, showing the physical arrangement and interconnections, to include the existing network environment. From the drawings, we develop an acquisition plan and a recommended equipment bill of materials listing all required components and peripherals to support planned system upgrades and deployments.

We then integrate equipment into the racks, establish all physical inter-server connections—to include all cabling and wiring—and establish all virtual inter-server connections (data set names, mapped directories, and replication paths). Equally important, we develop comprehensive disaster recovery plans for mission critical systems. Through our training services, we created a course curriculum to help users—both on-site and off-site—learn how to implement the Content Management System software. To increase the success of the curriculum, we first identify key content areas, the training audience, goals, learning objectives, and training evaluations. Through our migration services, we assist in the migration of content between legacy systems and newer systems which is demonstrated by our support of Air Force Link (http://www.af.mil), the official Web site of the Air Force. These services have also been successfully used by other major commands, bases, and wings that have migrated to the Content Management System.

For software system maintenance, we provide site monitoring/analyses and on-call support to ensure systems are functioning 24/7. We integrate system upgrades and enhancements during the life-cycle maintenance phase of a project at off-peak hours to reduce system interruptions. We also provide life-cycle maintenance support for all hardware and software operating in the network environment, and we document and inventory all software applications and associated documentation including licenses.
