    This is a truly unique professional opportunity to blend a range of technical skills in database development / management with web based solutions, all wrapped in to a cloud platform.

    This platform has expanded to include all human subjects research data related to mental health and will soon support other research areas.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    This multi-faceted Data technologist will utilize SQL or PL/SQL Development in support of Data Schema, Data structures, data aggregation, and overall basic Database Administration.

    The ideal candidate for this position will enjoy working to optimize a complex cloud infrastructure supporting both complex scientific data and computational tools. Past experience working with medical and/or scientific data is helpful. 

    The successful candidate must be able to work under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment and creativity.

    We also welcome candidates lacking all the requisite skills, but possessing a proven aptitude to quickly learn new tools and successfully apply them to meet technical deliverables.

    Required Skills

    • a technical degree in Compute Science, Engineering, or related field and 1+ years or related professional experience, or 5+ years related experience with out a degree;
    • 1+ years SQL or PL/SQL development;
    • demonstrable experience working with large and complex data structures;

    Helpful Skills

    • AWS or other Cloud skills;
    • Performance tuning experience;
    • Experience and understanding of how to build/create tables, stored procedures and indexes;
    • Capabilities with other/additional Oracle tools;
    • Data Warehouse experience;
    • Any exposure to Full life-cycle development/SDLC skills;
    • Any exposure to Linux System Administration; 
    • Any Java development capabilities;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Using your science, research, and overall data management skills, you will help organize large, complex data sets making them broadly available to the scientific community.

    The focus of this position is to help harmonize and QA large amounts of scientific data. In helping manage this research/scientific data, you will have heavy interfacing with end-users who are Researchers, Scientists, or data managers.

    Required Skills

    • A degree is required, preferably in life sciences, bioinformatics, or related field;
    • Experience with big and complex data sets is required, with any experience managing scientific or medical data like MRI data files, next-gen sequencing, etc., a big plus;
    • Strong data management concepts and experience with a relational database and/or complex Excel files, with any SQL and/or Scripting skills preferred;
    • The ability to work collaboratively on projects with an intensely goal oriented team; 
    • The flexibility and dedication to deliverables allowing you to take on multiple roles and shifting priorities based on end-user priorities; 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include demonstrable past work performance and/or assignments requiring active interaction with Researchers, Analysts, other technical staff, and end users; 
    • US Citizenship is required along with the ability to pass a Minimal Background Investigation/MBI to ensure your access to client systems and work sites.

    Helpful Skills

    • Amazon Web Services / AWS or other Cloud technologies;
    • graph based analysis tools;
    • Proficiency with scripting languages;
    • any experience with universal data definitions;
    • clinical assessments (clinical trial experience is a plus);
    • understanding about biological data variability.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    We need a "doer" who can help monitor, identify and resolve, with enough technical savvy to understand new challenges & vulnerabilities, and then collaborate with the rest of the team on addressing them. You will support as many of the following tasks as possible:

    • Provide expert technical services on all aspects of Information Security;
    • Assess system design/architecture as well as defining, and advising Information Security compliance with FISMA Moderate and/or NIST SP 800-53 controls (part of FedRAMP) and FIPS 140-2. 
    • Tasks includes incident response, system access approval, audit log review, and consultations/consulting on security issues;
    • Initiate protective and corrective measures when incident or vulnerabilities are discovered;
    • Perform maintenance and/or advanced configuration of systems in order to protect infrastructure from emerging cyber threats;
    • Conduct forensic traffic/log analysis to isolate issues or respond to analyst alerts;
    • Respond to escalated troubleshooting requests;
    • Present Monitoring/Test Results and Reports as required;
    • Perform/support integration testing as required. 
    • Candidate will work with IT groups to configure IT systems with security as a requirement; 
    • Work with developers, system engineers, project managers, and internal clients to identify the level of protection systems will need and will need to understand and be able to identify what changes or processes will satisfy security requirements; 
    • Work with IT groups to configure IT systems with security as a requirement. 
    • Execute processes to implement technical solutions to address vulnerability findings;

    Required Skills

    • a 2 or 4 year degree in a Scientific or Technical discipline is preferred; 
    • 2+ years of professional experience in IT, with 1-3 years network engineering and/or sys admin side of the coin, in a Linux/Unix environment (not Windows). This should include time with your "hands on the guts of a server” supporting communication protocols, installation, trouble shooting, etc at the server level; 
    • Strong preference for some/any level of hands-on IA/Cyber security on the system side. Could be any experience installing, hardening, deploying, documenting, and troubleshooting network perimeter and/or Cyber security technologies, or forensic support for intrusion detection and incident response & repair, 
    • Additional experience with IA compliance, accreditation, certification, etc is a plus; this would be working with and understanding of things like: FISMA Moderate and/or NIST SP 800-53 controls (part of FedRAMP), and FIPS 140-2; 
    • 1+ years SQL experience; 
    • Flexibility; understand the environment is evolving and able to understand how to apply yourself for the betterment of the client and team. You can’t have a personal IT agenda;
    • The ability to work collaboratively on projects with an intensely goal oriented team;
    • US citizenship and ability to pass an MBI/Public Trust investigation required in order to access federal job sites and systems.

    Helpful Skills

    • CISSP certification or equivalent (CAP, GSLC, CISM); 
    • Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or similar cloud infrastructure experience; 
    • System design and development experience; 
    • Strongly prefer skills with data management, such as familiarity/connectivity with Oracle or similar databases, or very basic DBA or database design concepts;
    • Proficiency with scripting languages such as BASH, PERL, Python or AWK.
